A woman was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery Wednesday at a South Side park, police said. The woman was with a friend shortly after midnight at Leland Giants Park in the 7500 block of South Lowe Avenue, when she was approached by two men. One of them pulled out a gun and demanded money, according to police. When the victim refused, she was shot. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. The friend was not injured and provided police with a description of the attackers, police said. One of the suspects was questioned by police, but no charges have been filed.
