CHICAGO (AP) — Top federal officials are planning an all-day public meeting in Chicago to gather input for the White House’s "America’s Great Outdoors" initiative. Suggestions from the meeting Tuesday will be included in a report to President Barack Obama. The general session starts at 8:30 a.m. at Northwestern University School of Law’s Thorne Auditorium. A youth session for those ages 16 to 24 will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Obama launched the "Great Outdoors" initiative in April to conserve cherished land and encourage more Americans to enjoy the outdoors. The Chicago meeting is part of a series of "listening sessions" being held across the nation. Among officials expected to attend the Chicago event are Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Howard Koh and Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
