UNCF's 'Legacy' fundraiser event raises $1M

Abevy of beautiful people recently attended the 8th annual Black and White Ball “Living the Legacy” fundraiser for The United Negro College Fund at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. The event raised over $1 million for the organization.

UNCF is the largest minority education assistance program in America, supporting more than 60,000 students who attend its 39 member colleges and universities and receive UNCF scholarships, internships and fellowships.

Don Thompson, president of McDonald’s USA, were honored by the event’s presenting sponsor, The Boeing Company, with the prestigious Harold H. Hines Jr. Benefactor’s Award for his leadership and support of UNCF scholarships and programs. In addition, The UNCF Legacy Award was given to Clear Channel Radio Chicago in acknowledgement of their ongoing support of the various UNCF initiatives through on-air promotion and public service campaigns.

Gospel recording artist, Smokie Norful, and renowned R&B artists, The Stylistics and The Emotions provided the nights’ entertainment.
