The storms and high winds that rolled through Northern Illinois caused minor damage and cut power to thousands of ComEd customers.
Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour toppled trees and power lines overnight and overturned at least two semi-trailer trucks on Interstate 88 west of Chicago. The roof of a house was blown off in DeKalb. No one was injured. According to utility officials, at one point 50,000 customers of ComEd were without power. That number has been reduced to less than 21,000, most of whom are in the western suburbs. Officials say 110 repair crews are working to restore power. The National Weather Service says flooding remains a threat across much of Illinois. (AP) ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
