Visiting International Olympic Committee officials will be feted Monday at dinner featuring Oprah Winfrey and other luminaries. Organizers of Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics say Winfrey accepted an invitation to attend the event at the Art Institute of Chicago. The IOC team’s visit began Thursday and ends Tuesday. On Sunday, Chicago organizers took the officials on a tour of 12 sites that would serve as venues for Olympic events. The group stopped at places like the McCormick Place convention center, the planned site of 11 Olympic and eight Paralympic events. Chicago is the IOC team’s first stop on a tour of the four 2016 candidates. The other finalists are Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo. The winner will be selected in October. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
