BIRMINGHAM – Mississippi Valley State head men’s basketball coach Sean Woods has been suspended one game and the school fined $1,000 by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for Woods’ unsportsmanlike conduct during game Monday’s game vs. Alabama A&M. Woods was assessed a flagrant technical foul and was ejected in the second half of the Delta Devils’ 77-69 loss. Woods is suspended for Saturday’s game at Alcorn State. “Coach Woods’ conduct in last Monday’s game was unacceptable,” SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said. “Per SWAC Constitution and Bylaws, when a coach or player is ejected from a game, you are automatically ejected from the next game. Unsportsmanlike conduct and behavior toward Conference officials, especially by our coaches, will not be tolerated at anytime.” The Southwestern Athletic Conference encourages sportsmanship and adherence to all SWAC and NCAA polices. We will continue to enforce these polices to ensure that everyone in our administrative and athletic programs conduct themselves in a manner that brings credit to our member institutions, intercollegiate athletics and the Conference Office.
