Free financial survival and economic empowerment services will be available on the West Side Saturday for residents looking for fiscal management tips and credit counseling, among other programs at the YWCA West Side Center. “It is through neighborhood financial empowerment that a community becomes vibrant. When communities are vibrant, there are more jobs available and communities become safer for all. I applaud the work of the YWCA and am happy to partner with them to empower all citizens,” said state Rep. LaShawn Ford, D-8th, whose district includes the center located at 5080 W. Harrison. Credit clean-up, banking, budgeting and saving and investing will the focus of the workshop. Those attending will also receive a free one-on-one credit counseling session by representatives from Harris Bank. For more information, call 773-496-5610. Copyright 2010 Chicago Defender.
