A refashioned Web site is supposed to make commuting by train in Chicago easier than ever. Metra unveiled the upgraded site to reporters Tuesday. Commuters can start using it Wednesday. For the first time, it enables users to buy tickets online with credit cards. The new site also enables commuters to create customized views of train schedules. And they can ask to receive e-mail alerts on their cell phone if a train is running late. The entire site is also available in Spanish. And the most essential information is available in other languages, including Polish and Chinese. A Chicago-based digital solutions company, Aquity Group, won a nearly $4 million contract to develop, host and maintain the new site. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
