BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick is heading to Chicago to meet President Barack Obama’s top political adviser David Axelrod to discuss ways he can help the president’s reelection campaign. A Patrick aide said the governor was set to leave Boston on Friday and have breakfast with Axelrod on Saturday. He’ll return in time to attend a New Year’s celebration in Boston’s Chinatown on Saturday evening. The meeting is the second this week between Patrick and a top Democrat. On Tuesday, Patrick met with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine in Washington. Patrick, a friend of Obama, ran a successful reelection campaign last year during a tough election cycle for Democrats. The two also share Chicago roots and political advisors, including Axelrod who helped Patrick win his first bid for office in 2006. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press.
