NASHVILLE, Tenn.  — A convicted murderer has pleaded not guilty to selling the gun that was used to kill former NFL quarterback Steve McNair. Adrian Gilliam of La Vergne, Tenn., was charged last month with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, he admitted selling a loaded 9 mm Bryco/Jennings semiautomatic pistol for $100 to Sahel Kazemi. Nashville police said the woman used the weapon to kill McNair and herself on July 4. Police said Kazemi met Gilliam while she was trying to sell her car and told him she wanted to buy a gun. According to prosecutors, Gilliam was convicted in 1993 in Florida on murder and attempted armed robbery charges. U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman David Bolling said a district judge should set a trial date soon. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
