CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service says donating food to those in need could mean just a trip to the mailbox.
Letter carriers are kicking off a food drive on Monday. The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive is celebrating its 20th year.
Starting Monday, Chicago residents can bring donations of non-perishable food to any Post Office station or leave the bags at their mailboxes on Saturday. That’s the last day of the food drive.
Last year letter carriers in Chicago collected more than 167,000 pounds of food. The letter carriers are partnering with dozens of local food banks and pantries to distribute the food donations.
