SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The main inspector for Illinois government agencies found 90 cases of misconduct last year.
The Executive Inspector General’s office says it referred 67 cases to law enforcement, from the state attorney general to federal prosecutors.
The new figures are from the annual report of the inspector general’s office. The inspector looks into reports of misconduct in agencies under the governor’s authority.
The office doesn’t release details about the allegations or the results of any probe. It did say people filed more than 1,300 complaints, resulting in 215 investigations being opened in fiscal 2009.
Ninety turned out to have merit. More than a quarter of those involved the Department of Human Services.
