Officials of south suburban Harvey say most of the weapons stolen from a police gun range were found in a wooded area of the city. Mayor Eric Kellogg said Wednesday there appeared to have been an effort to bury the weapons. Harvey Police Chief Denard Eaves says the guns were a mix of police-issued and officers’ personal weapons. He refused to reveal the number of guns recovered. Eaves said investigators are looking for persons of interests, but wouldn’t provide more details. The Harvey Police Department is offering a reward that leads to the arrest and conviction of the burglars. Eaves says Illinois State Police evidence technicians plan to process the area where the guns were found. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
