Chicago’s local artists are heating things up in the gospel world. Kudos to Chicago’s Brown Sisters whose Awesome God video was produced by the siblings in Chicago earlier this year.

Chicago’s local artists are heating things up in the gospel world. Kudos to Chicago’s Brown Sisters whose Awesome God video was produced by the siblings in Chicago earlier this year.

The Sisters were ecstatic when the video was featured recently on Black Entertainment Television’s Video Gospel show.

“We’re excited about the video and we did it on our own,” said Vanessa Dukes of the group. “They’re playing it all over the country. We get calls from all over the country.”

Some of the special effects of the video are God healing people, a man receiving Christ and a homeless man reuniting with family.

“It shows the awesomeness of our God!” the eldest sister said. “The song was written by our cousin, Precious Holmes.”

Expect the group’s next single, Hold On, to be released in the coming weeks. The popular female group is compared to the Clark Sisters and sang background for a number of national gospel recording artists including Donnie McClurkin, The Clark Sisters, Cece Winans and Hezekiah Walker. The spotlight was also on Tracy Worth and her new video, Christ Is All. In 2005, Worth recorded a video with Grammy-nominated Melvin Williams of the famed Williams Brothers. The video, I’ll Follow You, received tremendous coverage on BET. She continues to travel and write, and deal with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Worth is also a breast cancer survivor, and is going through chemotherapy.

“The video, shot only three days after I finished radiation for breast cancer treatment, is my testament to God’s grace and mercy! I know it’s been a minute, but the multiple sclerosis hasn’t taken me out nor the breast cancer,” Worth said. I’m still here.”

In one scene of the video, the singer is looking in a mirror as she pulls off her wig to showcase the hair loss due to the cancer treatments.

Talented songwriter, producer, worship leader and musician extraordinaire, VaShawn Mitchell, just signed with Triumphant on the EMI Gospel label. The Chicago-native has written for Bishop Larry Trotter and Sweet Holy Spirit church, St. Mark Baptist church, Rev. Smokie Norful, Bishop Paul Morton and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. His full album is expected to be released in stores and online in August.

Last but not least, congrats are in order for world renowned speaker, singer and best-selling author, Dr. Juanita Bynum who joined Music World Entertainment with a management and joint venture recording agreement.  Bynum will work with Matthew Knowles under a newly formed joint venture with the company’s premiere faith-based label, Spirit Rising. The Diary of Juanita Bynum is highly anticipated and scheduled to be released later this year on Spirit Rising/Son Flower Records.  Bynum is the owner of Son Flower Records.  The sought-after minister is the founder and president of Juanita Bynum Ministries based in Norcross, Georgia.  The Chicago-native has sold millions of records and books since recording in 2000.

Condolences to the family and friends of Tina Ward-Howard, former member of Ricky Dillard and New Generation Chorale.

Remember you are Blessed by the Best!”
