CHICAGO (AP) — Organizers of an annual Cook County clothing drive are scrambling to find more donations after a basement flood destroyed boxes of items. The Southtown Star reports that there’s added urgency for this year’s clothing drive benefitting women recently released from jail. The Cook County Sheriff’s Department of Women’s Justice Services sponsors the clothing drive. The goal is to help the women transition back into society. But this year the flood destroyed boxes of clothes and coats, covering them with mold and dirt. The sheriff’s department says clothes can be dropped off at any county courthouse.
