Barbara Coombs Lee, author of the recently published Finish Strong: Putting YOUR Priorities First at Life’s End, will share strategies and tools on how to identify and communicate final wishes with loved ones at a forum hosted by the Illinois End-of-Life Options Coalition from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, 565 W. Finish Strong: Putting YOUR Priorities First at Life’s End is based on Ms. Lee’s 50 years of firsthand experience in nursing, medicine, law, public policy and advocacy. In Finish Strong, she calls for all Americans to join a patient-driven movement to dismantle the institutional and cultural barriers to living well to the very end.
“A writer, speaker, nurse, physician assistant and lawyer, Barbara brings to Chicago the passion for transforming end-of-life care through information and empowerment that she has infused in her new book,” said Merrie Starof Illinois End of Life Options Coalition, a coalition comprised of Compassion & Choices Final Options Illinois and ACLU of Illinois. The coalition is dedicated to raising both awareness and support across Illinois for medical aid in dying and to authorize the practice to ensure that terminally ill residents who want it can access it.
