Authorities say a Chicago Transit Authority bus driver suffered serious injuries from broken glass when someone fired shots at his bus on the city’s South Side. Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says the attack occurred about 7 p.m. Thursday near 79th St. and Emerald Ave. Three passengers were on the bus at the time, but none were injured. Langford says the driver appeared to have suffered numerous cuts from a shattered windshield, but paramedics did not find any bullet wound. The driver was taken in serious but stable condition to St. Bernard Hospital. Copyright 2009 The Associated Press.
