CHICAGO (AP) — Former White House social secretary Desiree Rogers will take over as the chief executive officer at Johnson Publishing Company Inc. The Chicago-based company publishes Ebony and Jet magazines. Rogers stepped down from the White House position in February, following criticism for her role in allowing an uninvited couple to crash the Obama administration’s first state dinner. Johnson CEO Linda Johnson Rice named Rogers to the job Tuesday, citing her confidence and business savvy. She takes over daily operations, while Rice remains chairman. Rogers is a 51-year-old Illinois native whose experience includes being director of the Illinois Lottery and an executive at Allstate Financial. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
