Democratic State Rep. David Miller has conceded in the race for Illinois comptroller.
Miller says he’s called Republican Judy Baar Topinka to offer his best wishes.
With 94 percent of precincts reporting, Topinka had 53 percent of the vote, and Miller had 40 percent. Green Party candidate Erika Schafer and Libertarian Julie Fox also ran.
The comptroller maintains the state’s accounts, signs checks to employees and pays bills. The office also has a role in regulating cemeteries.
