Dear Chat Daddy, My honor roll daughter aspires to act, not go on to college

Dear Chat Daddy,

I am a 35-year-old single woman with two jobs. For the past six months, I have been acquainted with a guy I met at a mutual friend’s housewarming party. The relationship became sexual, which is something that I never minded because honestly, I enjoy it. But lately he has been calling me to come over to his house. I then take off from my evening job and when I arrive, I am always waiting for him to answer his door and cell phone. When he finally calls me back days later, it is always with excuses. Chat Daddy, I really have feelings for him, but now I am not sure what to do. Please advise.

–Here I Sit Outside Your Door

Dear Here I Sit Outside Your Door, Sister, please. I hate to break it to you, but I need to be very honest with you: leave this man alone. First of all, you should have remained acquaintances with this man. Your fatal mistake was having sex with someone you’ve only known for six months. With these so-called excuses that he’s been giving you, it is absolutely clear that he doesn’t want to be bothered and he doesn’t respect you because to him, all you are is a “dip.” That is the harsh yet frank truth of the matter. Move on and find someone who would be willing to get to know you and not your body and who would take the time to see who you are as an individual. Too many women fall into this same trap: they expect a relationship once sex becomes involved, which nine times out of 10 does not happen. Cut your losses and spend some time with yourself, to allow healing to take place. Be encouraged.
