Dear Chat Daddy,
I am trying to figure out how to tell my best friend of over five years that she has a body odor problem. Every time we see each other to go shopping or just to hang out, I smell this foul odor. At first, I thought that maybe it was my imagination, but the longer I’m around her, the more she smells like rotting garbage. Chat Daddy, I am not one for hurting someone’s feelings, especially a person I love very deeply. Please advise.

Dear Just Don’t Know What To Do,
What a sticky place to be in, but I definitely understand how you feel. However, sweetheart, you are her friend! Before you set out on this journey, say a little prayer that she receives in a positive way what you are saying, then sit her down and gently talk to her about her issues. It is not going to be an easy thing to do, but it must be done. Explain that you are not trying to be sarcastic or hurtful, but that you love her unconditionally and you are just concerned about her health and well-being. She could be suffering from a condition where she has lost her sense of smell or is going through something that is keeping her from properly caring of herself. You can even sweeten things up by purchasing her a large gift basket full of lush and scented bath products complete with a variety of soaps, body butter and essential oils. Be encouraged and encouraging though it all.
