I’m a 42-year-old female engaged to a man I feel is a bit too jealous. At first I thought that his behavior was cute because he was so attentive to me and my every wish. Then one day he started reading my e-mails, and he has started to question me frequently about who am I talking to on my cell phone. I really like him, but is this a red flag I should stop for?

Yes, you should take a very close look at this relationship. What a sad situation but it is always best to find out about the type of person you are dealing with before you take the relationship any further. We have all experienced some form of jealousy because it’s human nature. But when someone you love starts to become emotional and/or physically jealous all the time, this can become annoying and disheartening. Try having a frank chat with him about his behavior. If you feel that he is not taking what you say to heart and things seem to be getting worse, then its time for you to say goodbye to what will eventually become an abusive and controlling relationship. The best thing for you to do is keep jealousy from ruining your personal happiness and well being. Be encouraged.
