CTA launches green Web site

The Chicago Transit Authority has launched a section on its Web site that highlights its green efforts in honor of Earth Day.

The Chicago Transit Board announced the Web site launch on Wednesday along with the passage of a resolution recognizing sustainability initiatives and pledging support to continue them. Board chairman Terry Peterson says making the CTA energy efficient is "critical" for operations. The CTA also plans to mark Earth Day by displaying "Going Green" facts on vehicles and digital displays at rail stations. Also the CTA’s 40-foot hybrid "EcoBus" will debut Saturday at the Chicago Green Festival at Lincoln Park Zoo. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
