Chicago police officials say an officer responding to a burglary at a school shot a 14-year-old boy in the leg after the boy pointed a gun at him. Police spokesman Roderick Drew says the boy and his 13-year-old brother had broken into a third-floor computer room at Whittier Elementary School before 5 a.m. Monday. Drew says officers responding to a burglary alarm spotted the boys, who ran from the room, with the older boy running into a stairwell. Drew says the older teen was carrying a long black object that resembled a shotgun but was actually a BB/pellet gun. He says the boy was shot when he pointed the weapon at the officer. Both boys ran from the building but were caught a short time later. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
