The president of Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics says the committee has agreed to share any hiring and economic opportunities with underserved communities. Chicago 2016 president Lori Healey announced the signing of a legally binding document Thursday that outlines equality efforts in hiring and contracting for the games, as well as affordable housing. Chicago Urban League president Cheryle Jackson says her organization is "excited and encouraged" by the agreement.
