WHEATON, Ill. — Two men have been charged with the death last week of an elderly man during a home invasion. Bond has been set at $3 million for 21-year-old Keith Allen of Chicago, who DuPage County authorities say confessed to the murder of 82-year-old Carl Kuhn. Judge George Bakalis on Tuesday denied bond for a co-defendant, 43-year-old Terry Bratcher of West Chicago. Sheriff John Zaruba says it was first thought Kuhn died from natural causes. However, further investigation determined Kuhn was suffocated with a pillow. DuPage County Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Berlin says Kuhn was an avid gun collector, and Allen and Bratcher allegedly took 43 guns in the home invasion. Berlin says the weapons were recovered from Bratcher’s garage. Berlin said Bratcher worked on Kuhn’s auto and borrowed a gun from him several weeks ago. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
