Carl Davis to head record company in Chicago

Along with musicians, vocalists, writers, producers, record producers and executives, within the next few weeks Carl Davis will open his old headquarters at 1449 S. Michigan. Helping him in this effort will be Gus Redmond and Jerry W. Williams Sr.

Along with musicians, vocalists, writers, producers, record producers and executives, within the next few weeks Carl Davis will open his old headquarters at 1449 S. Michigan. Helping him in this effort will be Gus Redmond and Jerry W. Williams Sr.

Davis will serve as president CEO of the Chi-Sound Records.

Davis was blessed with the ability to blend music, talent and business for the benefit of marketing people. He is the subject of the biography The Man Behind The Music, and was instrumental in blazing a trail as one of the most significant musical producers and record executives in the industry. His action mastered the art of dealing with individuals that enabled him forge the Chicago sound from the recording studio, the theaters such as the Regal, night clubs, radio, television, movies developing superstars throughout the entire world.

Although he is currently living in South Carolina we still remember the many stars he helped to make such as Louis Armstrong, Sam Cook, Jackie Wilson, Gene Chandler, The Chi-Lites, Major Lance, Walter Jackson, Emma Franklin, Mary Wells, Tyrone Davis, Billy Butler, Curtis Mayfield, The Vibrations, Chubby Checker, Young-Holt Trio, Barbara Acklin, The Artistics, Elton John, The Dells, Chuck Jackson, Muhammad Ali and Manchild and Eugene Record.
