Camille Lowry dead at 98

Camille Lowry, mother of prominent Chicago attorney James H. Lowry, has died.

Camille Lowry, mother of prominent Chicago attorney James H. Lowry, has died.

She was 98 years old.

Camille Lowry was born in Hollenale, Miss. on November 27, 1910 to Burrell and Emma Jane Caldwell. She was the youngest of five children. Her mother brought Camille and three of her siblings to Chicago when Camille was 13.

The Caldwells settled on the South Side of Chicago and shortly thereafter Camille enrolled in Wendell Phillips High School and graduated in 1928.

On November 4, 1933 Camille married William E. Lowry and they had two sons, William E. Lowry Jr. and James H. Lowry.

Camille Lowry worked for 32 years as a postal clerk at the 22nd Street branch office. She retired in 1975.

Camille had a zest for life and all it offered and as a result spent most of her adult life traveling. Fortunately, she was able to visit most states in the country as well as several continents.
