Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady is challenging Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn to be a cheerleader for a new Chicago Wal-Mart that would mean jobs on the South Side. A city council committee has put off voting until next month on a second Chicago Wal-Mart. Union opposition has helped stymie expansion by the giant retailer into the city. Brady says Quinn needs to persuade the unions to support Wal-Mart. Quinn has received campaign contributions from unions that have been critical of Wal-Mart. Quinn spokeswoman Mica Matsoff says the governor looks forward to productive negotiations between the unions and Wal-Mart that could provide jobs.
