BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder mother who left her 17-month-old son in a running car faces child abuse charges.

Police were called Thursday afternoon after someone spotted the toddler alone in a Volkswagen Jetta. A few moments later, 38-year-old Ashley Imboden came out of a nearby store and told an officer the boy was alone just a few minutes. She said she left the air conditioner running.

Imboden was ticketed for child abuse with no injury.

The first-time mother said she was going to pick up pictures for a Father’s Day gift for her husband and her baby fell asleep in the back.
