Body found in Chicago apartment

Chicago police are trying to determine the identity of a man whose body was discovered after neighbors complained of maggots falling from the ceiling.

Chicago police are trying to determine the identity of a man whose body was discovered after neighbors complained of maggots falling from the ceiling. Police conducting a well-being check Thursday found the body of the man, believed to be in his 20s, inside a third-floor apartment on Chicago’s North Side. Investigators said Friday that because the apartment building is home to transients, it may be difficult to identify the unrecognizable body. Police said the man may have been dead for over a week, and was badly decomposed and covered in maggots, which were showing up in second floor apartments. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office says it will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
