PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills rookie safety Jairus Byrd has been cleared for practice after missing the start of training camp because of groin surgery. Byrd, the first of Buffalo’s two second round draft picks, began camp on the active/non-football-injury list. The Bills hope he can compete for a starting job this season. He was on the field for Monday morning’s walk-through. ______ In photo: Buffalo Bills’ Jairus Byrd spins a ball on his finger during a walk-through practice at NFL football training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, N.Y., Thursday, July 30, 2009.
