UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. — Several animals have been killed in a fire at a south suburban Chicago nature center. University Park Fire Department Chief Chuck Exner says about a dozen animals were killed early Friday in the blaze at a barn on the Riegel Farmstead. Those include two horses, two bulls, a goat and many chickens. Exner says a firefighter was kicked by a llama while attempting a rescue. The man sustained minor injuries. About two dozen cows, horses, chickens, rabbits and fowl were more cooperative — firefighters were able to lead them to safety without incident. Exner says the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
