A 20th Ward candidate for alderman was taken into custody Thursday after attending a candidate forum.
George Davis –– one of four candidates vying to unseat incumbent Ald. Willie Cochran –– was arrested outside of St. Phillips Church in the 6200 block of South Eberhart Avenue.
The Rev. Andre Smith, another candidate for the ward, told the Defender Davis recently came to his office spewing profanity-laced accusations and refused to leave the office when asked. Smith then filed a police report.
Smith had the police come to the church and arrest Davis.
Davis told the officers before being placed in handcuffs he “has no idea what this is about.”
Davis, Smith, Che “Rhymefest” Smith and Sid Shelton are challenging Cochran for the 20th Ward office.
