LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State Athletic Director Darren J. Hamilton will leave June 30 to become AD at Livingstone College in North Carolina. Alcorn hired Hamilton as athletic director in April 2008. He previously had been athletic director at Eastern Washington for seven months and Chicago State for 10 months between 2005 and 2008. Hamilton played receiver at Penn State under Joe Paterno. He graduated in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in speech communications. He got a master’s degree in exercise and sports science in 1988 and a doctorate in Black history and sociology of sport in 1991. Before taking the job at Chicago State, Hamilton was program coordinator for academic services at Duke University from 2002-05, was assistant athletic director at Bowling Green State University from 2000-02, and also worked at Cheyney State and Penn State. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
