CHICAGO (AP) — The summer weather may seem like a perfect time to head to Lake Michigan, but officials have issued a swimming ban for five Chicago beaches. The Chicago Park District on Saturday issued a swimming ban for the following beaches: 31st Street, Oak Street, North Avenue, Hollywood and Leone. According to the district’s website officials say water conditions may be hazardous because of severe weather or high E. coli bacteria Levels. A swim advisory was also issued for nine other areas. That means the public should take caution. Those beaches are Calumet, Rainbow, South Shore, 63rd Street, 12th Street, Montrose Avenue, Foster Avenue Hartigan and Jarvis Avenue. Officials say all other beaches are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for swimming. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
